Sri Aurobindo Yoga Mandir, established on 24th April 1993, is a non-profit organization that wishes to promote and materialize the ideology of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother in order to uplift life and to change it's state into conditions of Divine perfection, Knowledge and Bliss in this Himalayan country.
The Ashram is a shelter for all those who want to march towards a future of Knowledge, Peace and Unity. A place of universal township where men and women can live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, politics and nationalities to realize human Unity. It is an attempt towards world peace, friendship, fraternity and unity. Although the start is small, the goal of the Ashram is certainly Perfection.
Now, Sri Aurobindo Yoga Mandir is an ideal home for more than 250 destitute children and adults who get their basic needs fulfilled, learn life skills and learn the way to live harmonious, peaceful and efficient lives on the path of spirituality and holistic living.
Sri Aurobindo Yoga mandir is situated at the foothills of the Kathmandu valley, around 7kms from the main part of the city. Lying in the lap of the Chandragiri hill (3000m) it harbors pure air and peaceful surroundings from where the snow clad mountains and the green hills can be seen.
Integral-Living: It is one of the specialities of Sri Aurobindo Yoga Mandir. There are many departments and faculties in the Ashram where different types of activities are carried out. These diverse experiences make Ashram life vibrant.
The purpose of all departments and activities is foremost to aid in the Self Sustainability of the Ashram. They also serve to create a platform so that all the dimensions of human potential are catered and space is available for multidimensional development of the Children and adults at Sri Aurobindo Yoga Mandir.
We also run a guesthouse for those who would prefer to stay away from the city environment and pollution in a calm and quiet typical village environment.
Evenings are blissful, with spiritual chants, Meditations and Nepalese folk dances and songs with ashramites.
The Ashram is not a place of spirituality and materialism only. It is a unique fusion of materialism and spirituality, ultimately evolving as Divine materialism.
And The Worldly Life Changes to The Life Divine.
