In addition to your trek

In Kathmandu, not far from the Chandragiri Cable Car Base Station, we have a fully-fledged guest house that offers you with all the basic conditions necessary for your stay. You can be accommodated throughout the year and stay with us at the ashram, before or after the trek also. The cost is only 18 euros per day. This includes all meals, plentiful and neat, cooked from the organic products of our farms, tea or coffee twice a day.

The Annapurna Sanctuary treks begin from the naturally beautiful city Pokhara, passing through traditional villages, Hotels, and Lodges, where tourists/trekkers will get very friendly and welcoming behaviors of local residents. Finally, the treks end at the Annapurna Base Camp from where tourists/trekkers will have a magnificient view of Mt.Fishtail, Dhaulagiri Massif, Mt. Nilgiri, Mt. Gangapurna and Annapurna-I, the 10th highest mountain of the world.

Brief Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Pokhara;

Day 2: Drive to Phedi/ Trek to Pothana (1700m/ 1.5 hrs drive and 3 hrs of Trek)

Day 3: Trek to Landruk (1565m /4-5 hrs)

Day 4: Trek to Chhomrong (2170m/ 5-6 hrs trek)

Day 5: Trek  to Dovan (2605m / 6 hrs trek)

Day 6: Trek to Deurali (3210 m / 6 hrs trek)

Day 7: Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4130 m / 6-7 hrs trek)

Day 8: Explore the Annapurna base camp and back to Dovan. (2605 m /6-7 hrs trek)

Day 9: Trek to Jhinu Danda. (1780 m / 6-7 hrs trek)

Day 10: Trek to Pothana via Landruk (1700m / 5-6 hrs trek)

Day 11: Trek to Phedi and drive to Pokhara (3 hrs trek / 1.5 hr drive)

Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu (6 hrs. / 1 hr)

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Pokhara;

Day 2: Drive to Phedi/ Trek to Pothana (1700m/ 1.5 hrs drive and 3 hrs of Trek)

After your breakfast drive to Phedi by private transportations 90 minutes drive and trek start from Phedi to Pothana (1870m) 3 hours. From here begin to hike uphill to Dhampus, steeply at first then gradually through Dhampus and on to Pothana.

Day 3: Trek to Landruk (1565m /4-5 hrs)

Trek to Jhinu Danda (1450m) The trail continues through Tolka, 3 hours beyond Pothana in magnificent Oak Forest then 45 minutes on to landrunk.

Day 4: Trek to Chhomrong (2170m/ 5-6 hrs trek)

Take the trail marked to kymnu, which descends to the new suspension bridge over the Modi River. Then gradually up 1 and ½ hour to get Jhinu. Here is 15 minutes down in river side hot spring where you can take relax bath and also 90% chance is to see the wild animals there.Continue on to Jhinu Danda steep incline further a steep dirt track regains elevation then levels out as it turns back to the river reached Chhomrung about 2 hours from here.

Day 5: Trek  to Dovan (2605m / 6 hrs trek)

Chhomrong to Dovan trek distance is 8.6 kilometers / 5.3 miles. From Chhomrong you have to trek for 5 to 7 hours to reach Dovan which is at a height of 2600 m above sea level. Steep decent till Chhomrong khola and steep ascent towards upper Sinuwa is the most difficult part of ABC trek.

Day 6: Trek to Deurali (3210 m / 6 hrs trek) 

Dovan to Deurali trek distance is 7.7 kilometers / 4.7 miles. The Elevation of Dovan village is 2600 meters above sea level. Dovan to Deurali distance is a part of ABC trekking route in Himalayas. It takes 4 to 5 hours to arrive at Deurali from dobhan enjoying the rich biodiversity along Modi Khola & bamboo forest.

Day 7: Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4130 m / 6-7 hrs trek)

Deurali is located 3200m, overnight at Lodge. Today, you will trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp. Annapurna Base Camp is located 4130m. It takes 5-6 hours walk.

Day 8: Explore the Annapurna base camp and back to Dovan. (2605 m /6-7 hrs trek)

As we have reached the final destination of our trip, we will take it easy to get back to Pokhara so tonight we will be staying at Dovan.

Day 9: Trek to Jhinu Danda. (1780 m / 6-7 hrs trek)

Coming downhill and a bit of uphill we will clear our stress and walk along the jungle returning back to the gateway to Annapurna base camp, also known as the chhomrong.  a little downhill from chhomrong we reach at jhinu danda where you can have one of the best natural hot spring bath at the foot of majestic hill.

Day 10: Trek to Pothana via Landruk (1700m / 5-6 hrs trek)

The trek remains the same and calm as we pass through the village of Landruk. we take our lunch on the way and part to Pothana, a small village with beautiful tea houses and beautiful view.

Day 11: Trek to Phedi and drive to Pokhara (3 hrs trek / 1.5 hr drive)

We are almost at the end of our trek, we take the last breath and our remaining last energy to cross from Pothana to Phedi mostly downhill. the trek of Annapurna Base Camp comes to an end as we reach Pokhara by a drive from Phedi.

Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu (6 hrs. / 1 hr)

The best months are September, October & November during the Autumn season and March, April & May during the spring season. Regarding monsoon season at summer time we do not suggest to try this route from June till August.

Conditions and Comforts

Accommodations

We will be accommodated for the nights in local tea houses and guest houses. In these places, accommodation provided by lodges and guest-houses is in good hygienic conditions. We maintain standard comfort in every matter based on enforceable conditions such as weather calamities. All the prices of the rooms and accommodations are included within the trip package.

Meals

All Meals on a full board basis will be provided during trekking in the mountains. Three meals a day will be provided from the teahouse/lodge menus but the meals in this particular route are expected great meals. Each day dinner and breakfast is taken in the same place you spend the night. Lunch will be taken on the way to the destination in a tea shop.

Toilet Facilities

On the trek, toilet facilities are available nearby your room most of the time and in some places, you might be able to get the attached rooms in established trek routes.

The Auronepal Team

Auronepal trek only employs and trains Nepalese leaders and local staff. By employing and training local people they put something back into their communities. Auronepal trek currently trains all their Guides in the following courses and your Annapurna Base Camp Trek leader will be one of the fully train Trek Leader.

Auronepal Team

Our operation is smooth as safety concern;

The leader of the trek will be one of the 4 certified trek guides of the Auronepal team. He will be assisted by another of the 4 guides, or a guide in training. In doing so, if one becomes ill or is injured, the trek can continue and go to completion, as planned.

Our trekking team will also be made up of one porter for each group of two trekkers.

The Group

Our group starts from 1 and maximum it goes up to 20 which is a good team to communicate and facilitate in every manner.

Responsible tourism practice

Trekking is gently in the Himalayas during the recent days, areas like Everest, Annapurna & Langtang. We, therefore, do our best to reduce the minimal impact on each trip to the mountain and all Auronepal trek trips aim for « zero footprints » impact on the natural environment and the people who live off its resources.
We enforce a number of do’s and don’ts for our customers and staff when out in the wilderness. Auronepal trek Trekking and Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP) had done some cleanup campaigns in the past and support its other environmental awareness activities.

Travel Insurance

It is a condition upon joining any of Auronepal trek’s trips that all clients be insured for comprehensive expenses that might incur due to medical issues or accidents (this includes air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and treatment costs).

Physical Condition & Experience Requirements

Walking in this high land of the Annapurna region usually requires a maximum of 6-8 hours of walking every day. We suggest you be prepared to max 14 Km of walking or jogging exercise every day 3 months before your wonderful Annapurna Trek starts because you are walking on high altitude for long and short days.
And also, you just need a positive attitude and a strong determination; previous hiking experience preferred and technical experience preferred. You must have lots of willpower, tolerance of harsh conditions and reasonable fitness, good health and physical condition are the basic measure of your success. It is vital that participants with pre-existing medical problems or conditions make these known to HG Trekking at the time of booking. Medical and evacuation expenses are the responsibility of the participant. It is also important that you consult your doctor for vaccination and other medical requirements for your trip. Auronepal trek reserves the right to require a medical certificate prior to booking your trip.

The trek in these highlands of the Annapurna requires most of the time, 6 to 7 hours of walking per day.

We, therefore, suggest that you regularly do fifteen kilometers of walking or jogging, 3 to 4 times a week for 3 months. Try at the same time, 2 or 3 times during this period, to walk or run every day of the week before the start of this wonderful trek, especially as you will be walking at high altitude for several days.

For all treks at altitude, we invite you to have a positive attitude and a good determination in order to have a great tolerance for difficult conditions that may arise. A simple walk in good weather can quickly become an ordeal in rain or snow.
In these times where the climate keeps on going upside down, we are not immune to difficult passages or even unexpected tests!

It is essential that participants with pre-existing problems or medical conditions make them known to Auronepal Travel & Trek at the time of booking.
All medical or evacuation costs that may be incurred during the trip are the responsibility of the trekker.

If you wish, a representative of Sri Aurobindo Yoga Mandir will pick you up at the airport, which will cost you about 15 euros.
Otherwise, taxis are parked in front of the arrivals area. All drivers know the address: Thankot, checkpost Chandragiri 6, Kathmandu.

The ashram is 1h – 1h30 from the airport depending on traffic.

Things to carry along the trek

  • Trekking boots to keep your ankles and feet dry
  • Multiple pairs of socks (thick and thin) for both warm and cold climates
  • Long thermal pants or underwear (keep in mind you will want to dress in layers, so you can shed a layer when it gets too hot)
