The world of travel is huge and there are more than a thousand trekking agencies in the Kathmandu Valley alone. It’s huge! We are very pleased to offer you “this little extra” that you will meet rarely, in order to make your journey more fruitful and more meaningful.
Don’t hesitate: make your trip more valuable !

Trek 100% solidarity

Auronepal Travel and Trek do not offer you a simple hiking package. We give you the opportunity to help at the same time as you enjoy yourself: all the benefits of the trek go to the Sri Aurobindo Yoga Mandir, a community or an Ashram that takes cares of nearly 250 children from disadvantaged backgrounds in Nepal, providing them with education, accommodation, food, and health, giving them a future and dignity to live.

Trek 100% karma yoga

We are not just a group of people running an agency, we are an organization that shares deep values around karma yoga and mutual understanding with each and every one. Karma yoga is the yoga of selfless service: acting for the good of all without worrying about receiving anything in return, neither gratification nor benefit. All guides and staff are children of the ashram! We are committed to helping everyone to meet their needs and providing the best possible service.

In addition to your trek

In Kathmandu, not far from the Chandragiri Cable Car Base Station, we have a fully-fledged guest house that offers you with all the basic conditions necessary for your stay. You can be accommodated throughout the year and stay with us at the ashram, before or after the trek also. The cost is only 18 euros per day. This includes all meals, plentiful and neat, cooked from the organic products of our farms, tea or coffee twice a day.

For all

We propose you to:
  • Attend regular yoga classes free of charge in the morning.
  • Participate in free evening meditations or mantra chanting and Bhajans.
  • Participate for free in the various festivals and events we celebrate.
  • Receive a massage after your trek, service included in the price of some treks – see the “Info and Prices” tab
  • Natural care: massages, naturopathy, panchakarma treatment, ayurvedic care…
  • Perform a healing session, either individually or collectively, with singing bowls and gongs.
  • Hike around the ashram.
We offer you to:
  • Seize the opportunity to do something for others by volunteering time in the community.
  • Meet with Ramchandra, the founder of the Ashrams.
  • Teach children and youth what you know best.
  • Taste local cuisine prepared by Nepalese ashram youth.

For groups

Before or after your trek, we can prepare you a tailor-made stay and let you enjoy our resources and contacts:

  • Tours of the Kathmandu Valley and its diverse cultural and architectural richness.
  • Visit Chitwan National Park and discover our Terai Ashram
  • Visits to specific parts of Nepal such as Bandipur, Pokhara, Ghandruk, etc.
  • Attend cultural performances by the Ashram, known for its yoga dancers and choreographers
  • Participate in a mini-retreat with Ramchandra around integral yoga, with spiritual lectures, various yoga sessions, classes, in the Himalayas or the location of your choice.
  • Do one or more hikes around our ashrams.
  • Make a meal at home.
  • Organize campfires with songs and music.
  • And finally, participate in the events or celebrations we have throughout the year.

Mardi Himal is a 5,587 peak beneath the much more prominent Machapuchare in the Annapurna region of Nepal, from which it is separated by a 5,200m. It was first summited in 1951 by Basil Goodfellow.
In 2012, the Mardi Himal Trek was opened, following a ridge towards the summit, with lodges and teahouses open to an elevation of 3,550m, with a further climb to “Base Camp” at 4,500m.

The peak itself is classified by the Nepalese government as a “trekking peak” and is offered by many expedition companies.
Situated just east of one of the most popular treks of Nepal, the Annapurna Base Camp trek, the Mardi Himal trek is a hidden gem. Few trekkers make their way to the Mardi Himal Base Camp spectacularly situated at the base of Mardi Himal and the impressive Machapuchhre.

The trail goes along small winding paths, through magical rhododendron forests until you climb out of the forest at an elevation around 3,300 m. The landscape changes quite abruptly into a rugged high mountain landscape, with amazing views of Mardi Himal, Machapuchre, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.

From High Camp  you can climb up to Mardi Himal Base Camp in about 3-4 hours, which offers spectacular close up views of the entire Annapurna Range.

There are simple guesthouses and homestays along the entire route. If you plan to do this trek in the winter months please check with a local tour operator if the lodges are open.

All Meals on a full board basis will be provided during trekking in the mountains. Three meals a day will be provided from the teahouse/lodge menus but the meals in this particular route are expected great meals. Each day dinner and breakfast is taken in the same place you spend the night. Lunch will be taken on the way to the destination in a tea shop. Pay attention, please, this region of Tsum valley doesn’t have developed tourist infrastructure (and it is the main attraction of this region), so the choice of the meal is poor enough. Mainly you can take Tibetan bread, dal bath, tsampa porridge other simple local food. Be ready for this.

Toilet Facilities

On the trek, toilet facilities are available nearby your room most of the time and in some places, you might be able to get the attached rooms in established trek routes.

The Auronepal Team

Auronepal trek only employs and trains Nepalese leaders and local staff. By employing and training local people they put something back into their communities. Auronepal trek currently trains all their Guides in the following courses and your Tsum Valley Trek leader will be one of the fully train Trek Leader.

Auronepal Team

Our operation is smooth as safety concern;

The leader of the trek will be one of the 4 certified trek guides of the Auronepal team. He will be assisted by another of the 4 guides, or a guide in training. In doing so, if one becomes ill or is injured, the trek can continue and go to completion, as planned.

Our trekking team will also be made up of one porter for each group of two trekkers.

The Group

Our group starts from 2 and maximum it goes up to 10 which is a good team to communicate and facilitate in every manner.

Responsible tourism practice

Trekking is gently in the Himalayas during the recent days, areas like Everest, Annapurna & Langtang. We, therefore, do our best to reduce the minimal impact on each trip to the mountain and all Auronepal trek trips aim for “zero footprints” impact on the natural environment and the people who live off its resources.
We enforce a number of do’s and don’ts for our customers and staff when out in the wilderness. Auronepal trek Trekking and Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP) had done some cleanup campaigns in the past and support its other environmental awareness activities.

Travel Insurance

It is a condition upon joining any of Auronepal trek’s trips that all clients be insured for comprehensive expenses that might incur due to medical issues or accidents (this includes air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and treatment costs).

Please note that we don’t arrange or sell insurance.

Physical Condition & Experience Requirements

Walking in this high land of Tsum Valley region usually requires a maximum of 6-8 hours of walking every day. We suggest you be prepared to max 14 Km of walking or jogging exercise every day 3 months before your wonderful Tsum Valley Trek starts because you are walking on high altitude for long and short days.
And also, you just need a positive attitude and a strong determination; previous hiking experience preferred and technical experience preferred. You must have lots of willpower, tolerance of harsh conditions and reasonable fitness, good health and physical condition are the basic measure of your success. It is vital that participants with pre-existing medical problems or conditions make these known to HG Trekking at the time of booking. Medical and evacuation expenses are the responsibility of the participant. It is also important that you consult your doctor for vaccination and other medical requirements for your trip. Auronepal trek reserves the right to require a medical certificate prior to booking your trip.

The trek in these highlands of the Tsum valley requires most of the time, 6 to 8 hours of walking per day.

We, therefore, suggest that you regularly do fifteen kilometers of walking or jogging, 3 to 4 times a week for 3 months. Try at the same time, 2 or 3 times during this period, to walk or run every day of the week before the start of this wonderful trek, especially as you will be walking at high altitude for several days.

For all treks at altitude, we invite you to have a positive attitude and a good determination in order to have a great tolerance for difficult conditions that may arise. A simple walk in good weather can quickly become an ordeal in rain or snow.
In these times where the climate keeps on going upside down, we are not immune to difficult passages or even unexpected tests!

It is essential that participants with pre-existing problems or medical conditions make them known to Auronepal Travel & Trek at the time of booking.
All medical or evacuation costs that may be incurred during the trip are the responsibility of the trekker.
Auronepal Travel & Trek reserves the right to require a medical certificate if necessary.
